The Request

For more than a decade, HDB has been organising an annual dragon boat race that brings together different entities from HDB and MNDRC (Ministry of National Development Recreation Club), for a day of friendly-competition and exchange. An estimate of 500 staff and family mmembers were expected to be at the event.
 

The DBI Difference

 

Different from a standard teambuilding session, a dragon boat race takes several months of planning, weeks of pre-event preparation, and flawless execution over the entire duration of the event. DBI was tasked to handle the end-to-end aspects of publicity, logistical setup, approvals management, VIP hospitality, race officiating, refreshments, lucky draw, and prize presentation. The successful execution of the event was made possible with our 30-man strong DBI crew. 

For the first time, we introduced  dragon boat tug-of-war (Dragon Battle) into their event - an idea conceptualised and trademarked by DBI. It was well-received as this allows specators and supporters to catch all the action up-close and at only a few metres away, as compared to a standard boat boat race. Camaraderie was greatly improved due to the closer interactions amongst teams. DBI also provided lively emceeing and exciting race commentary to keep participants enaged over the day's activities. Lucky draws were held throughout the day, much to the delight of everyone!
